Assess, Solve, Execute – Mini Case Study

Assess: A large utility company in the mid-west approached ASW Global to help them develop a cost-effective and efficient solution to install Automated Meter Reading (AMR) equipment on 1.2 million customer meters.

Solve: Utilizing our SCOM© ASW's team revamped the current logistics and distribution model used by the client, and established an Origin Distribution Center that would receive Less-Than-Truckload (LTL) and Truckload (TL) shipments to consolidate and deliver in Milk Runs (TL's) to the operating facilities at a planned replenishment frequency. In addition, ASW implemented a reverse logistics component that allowed for replaced meters to be recycled thus allowing the client to also meet their corporate "sustainability" goals.

Execute: The ASW solution was able to reduce the cost of inbound transportation by 24.3%, produce a 52.3% savings on outbound transportation to and from local operation shops, and deliver an 80% improvement in the value gained from reversed logistics and material recovery.
