ASW Scholarship Recipient

Akron Public Schools graduate Naomi Johnson has been awarded the inaugural ASW Educational Scholarship.

Firestone CLC Grad Receives Honor

Naomi Johnson is the recipient ASW's inaugural Educational Scholarship. The May 2020 graduate of Akron's Firestone Community Learning Center will be attending the University of Akron in the fall to major in Psychology. Naomi is choosing to pursue Psychology because she has always wanted to understand people's motivations and help them with their problems.

The Akron native believes in the value of community service. She is a volunteer with Rachel's Angels, a local nonprofit that presents anti-drug awareness and education programs to area youth. The well-rounded grad was also active in her school's choir. She had the honor of performing with Firestone High's Symphonic Choir at Carnegie Hall this past March. Naomi hopes to continue to help and inspire others in the Akron community through volunteerism. She identifies her mom Karen, ASW's Quality/Safety Coordinator, as her source of inspiration..
